Purpose
What is purpose?
Most of us begin with asking ourselves, “What is my purpose” Why am I here? What am I here for” Purpose is at the core of our existence. We search for it. It brings meaning and hope in life. And without an answer to those questions, there is little vision or hope for the future.
Reader, I would like to take you down a road to finding true purpose, maybe even the very reason that you yourself are here. Life is a gift, yet one that is so easily taken for granted. I would like to suggest, that you are a here for a reason, that maybe you are even reading this for a reason.
Two thousand years ago, a kind, gentle man walked this earth for 33 years, not just a man, a man who was also a divine being, Jesus Christ, the Son of God. Why was He here? You see, before He came, a few thousand years before, the Bible reveals that God created humankind and all of nature. Yet, humans soon lost their connection with their Heavenly Father – God their Creator – through disobedience. Death, sorrow, hardship and pain became the lot of their existence through this disobedience in separation from God. God is not arbitrary. Humans separated themselves from God in sin, yet death was the consequence. When Jesus came, as the Promised One, He came to offer humankind hope, purpose, a new life, that man “may have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” John 10:10
The Bible says in John 3:16 that “God so loved the world, that He gave His only-begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
This man, Jesus Christ, knew that every life is precious, as it is precious to Him and God. In His eyes, people are of infinite value. To save man from the lot of their existence in sin and disobedience and death, He lived a perfect life as an example of love; and then He laid down His life through the cruel death of a cross, to hand you and I back the gift of life, purpose, hope, of salvation and eternal life if we will receive it.
The Bible further reveals in Joh 3:17, that “God sent not His Son into he world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved.” Jesus says, “I am the way, the truth, and the life, no man cometh unto the Father but by Me.”
The Bible reveals, “But these” things “are written, that ye might believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life through His name.” John 20:31
